‘Twas the Solstice before Spring

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the yard,

half of the creatures were stirring,

because nature’s always on guard

The bat house was hung by the farmhouse with care since bats are nocturnal and need a cozy lair

The honeybees were nestled all snug in their hives keeping the queen safe and warm, while risking their own lives

And the Mason bees under the leaves in their cocoons

would be waking and flying in just 3 new moons

The butterflies fast asleep in their pollinator hotel

quietly waiting for winter to end and bid it farewell

And the hummingbirds had both migrated and stayed

depending on their species and when they get laid

We had planted the bulbs and wildflower seeds

so when the pollinators awoke, they’d find all their needs

And in the distance, we heard a coyote cry out “Merry Christmas, Good Night, and don’t forget to drip your spout!”

MERRY CHRISTMAS! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! AND HAVE A BLESSED NEW YEAR FROM ARKEARTH!
